DexBend Pro
Conduit bending calculator, field guide, and trainer.
Built for the jobsite
Calculate common conduit bends, review formulas and multipliers, save field notes, and practice the math. Always verify bender-specific take-up, deduct, gain, shoe markings, conduit type, and local code requirements before production work.

Pipe Bending Reference
Core Terms
- Take-up / deduct: amount subtracted for a 90° stub; bender-specific.
- Shrink: amount an offset pulls the run back.
- Gain: difference between straight corner distances and a bent 90; bender/radius-specific.
- Travel: distance between bends in an offset.
- Developed length: conduit length along the bend arc.
Before You Bend
- Confirm conduit size/type.
- Confirm bender shoe size.
- Read arrow, star, rim notch, and degree marks.
- Keep bends in the same plane unless intentionally rolling.
- Use a level or no-dog tool for alignment.
Common Bend Types
- 90° stub
- Back-to-back 90s
- Offsets
- Box offsets
- Kicks
- 3- and 4-point saddles
- Rolling offsets
- Segmented bends
| Angle | Offset Multiplier | Common Shrink / inch of offset | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10° | 5.76 | 1/16" | Very shallow offsets |
| 22.5° | 2.60 | 3/16" | Long, smooth offsets |
| 30° | 2.00 | 1/4" | Fast mental math / common field offset |
| 45° | 1.414 | 3/8" | Shorter offset travel |
| 60° | 1.155 | 1/2" | Tight offsets; harder pull |
Hand Bender Marks
Arrow: commonly used for stubs and offsets. Star: commonly used for the back of a 90/back-to-back layout. Degree scale: helps repeat bend angle. Exact markings vary by manufacturer.
Reduce Doglegs
Keep your reference line visible, keep pressure in one plane, sight down the conduit, and use a level/no-dog tool when accuracy matters.
Pulling Quality
Fewer and smoother bends usually mean an easier wire pull. Avoid unnecessary total bend and respect applicable code limits for bends between pull points.
